After a week-long coaching clinic in 10 local schools and one orphanage, the UK-based Cricket without Boarders (CWB) ended their tour of Kigali with a cricket festival held last Friday at Kicukiro Cricket Ground.

The festival attracted 10 schools competing in mini cricket games for both girls and boys. St. Espirit primary school and Ndera SS emerged winners in boys and girls categories respectively.

"We are so astonished by the improvement of cricket standards of the kids in these schools,” said David Murray the CWB CEO.

After the coaching clinics, 10 primary school teachers acquired certificates as level 1 coaches. "We are now more knowledgeable about the game and we will promote it in our schools,” said Antoine Benimana a teacher from Excella School.

CWB now heads to Butare this week to continue their work of using cricket to spread the HIV/AIDS message among school children.
