Should polygamy be legalised? (Isn't that just legally sleeping around?)

Men have a strong sexual drive that convinces them to believe they can sleep with 10 women in one day, because naturally, its lust at work and not any emotional feelings attached.

Men have a strong sexual drive that convinces them to believe they can sleep with 10 women in one day, because naturally, its lust at work and not any emotional feelings attached. They continuously rely on this reasoning to create a "farm” of women in their back yard who will be at their beck and call. Polygamy does not make women valuable but rather docile, submissive objects put on earth to satisfy man’s sexual desires.

We all know how as individuals we want to be loved unconditionally without being shared or ignored but this is exactly what polygamy does. Juggling more than one woman creates an emotional vacuum that affects a person and drives them to search for other partners. Men are selfish enough to know that they don’t want to share a woman with another man but want women to share him. Polygamy was a symbol of power and prestige in the old days because women were not empowered to study and hold big jobs to take care of themselves thus would have to rely on the man to take care of them.

? The only reason any sensible man would want another woman on top of the aforementioned professional is to demean her and raise his fallible confidence.

And it is not about having many children because as it is, even though the man is a millionaire, there’s inadequate land for everyone to settle unless they plan to live like Indians (two generations under one roof). This is putting aside the financial difficulties of today’s world where a parent is forking out over Rwf500, 000 to take a child to nursery. Imagine the strain the parents would go through if there are other primary going children.

Legalising polygamy would give even the financially unstable a chance to ‘indulge’ and then turn to the government for hand-outs. People might argue that "better the devil i know than the angel I don’t” but in case you didn’t know, if a man cheats once, he will always cheat even if he has 10 wives. Only this time, it will be like a herd cattle.

If it’s a case of infertility then it’s better to go for a check-up and talk about it before heading into marriage. But who says women are baby-producing machines? They are helpers (Genesis 2:18). However much people want their own children, polygamy is not the answer and neither has it ever been to any issue; maybe to those with a high libido.
