God’s heroes, the heroes of the Bible, were not men and women of extraordinary ability or talent, but men and women of true faith. 

They were men and women who loved the Lord and realizing they were God’s Creation...they honor Him, loved Him and dedicated their very lives to His purposes and will.

And the Bible tells us that God is looking for a few good men… and a few good women 

2 Chronicles 16:9 says "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him...”

God still needs heroes to reach a lost and dying world. Many men and women, who want to be heroes out there but God ain’t quit looking yet for a servant to uphold.

"Holding Out for a Hero” series, examining the story of David and Goliath  and  asking "What are the giants we face and how do they find victory instead of defeat?” : 1 Samuel 17:40-17:50.

This reminds me of a recruitment motto for the US Marine Corp’s which is: "We’re looking for a few good men”

And now God is looking for a few good people to use in His work. 

Luke 10: 2 says: "Then He said to them "The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Come on, God is calling you to be commissioned to His work in different capacities. 

Normally, we don’t  recognize our calling overnight; rather, God reveals it to us gradually over the years. As we use our talents and gifts to serve others, we discover certain types of works that feel right. They bring us a deep sense of fulfillment and happiness. They feel so natural and good that we know this is what we were meant to do.

God equips each of us with unique spiritual gifts to help us in our calling. A good list is found in Romans 12:6-8: "We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
