Uwizeyimana wins Stage V of Bongo Tour

Team Rwanda rider Bonaventure Uwizeyimana won Stage Five of the 2014 La Tropicale Amissa Bongo tour, Lambarene-Kango (143km) yesterday in a time of 3h16’31’.On the way to a historic victory, the 21-year-old Rwandan beat off stiff competition from Moroccan Lahsaini Mouhcine, who crossed the finish line five seconds later, De Troyer Tim (Wanty Groupe Gobert), GENE Yohan (Europcar) and  Eritrean Teshome Meron.Joseph Biziyaremye was the next best Team Rwanda rider,  in 28th position, five minutes later.Uwizeyimana became the fifth African to win a stage in La Tropicale Amissa Bongo. La Tropicale Amissa Bongo is the first race on the UCI Africa Cycling Tour and it’s arguably the biggest on the continent.Other Rwandans, Adrien Niyonshuti, riding for MTN-Qhubeka, came in 16th position, Janvier Hadi (31), Hategeka Gasore (48), Valens Ndayisenga (52) and Jean Bosco Nsengiyumva (57), all clocked 3h 22’32’’-- from the 15th position to 70th all riders had the same time.In General Classification: Niyonshuti (14), Uwizeyimana (23), Hadi (37), Biziyaremye (38), Gasore (42), Nsengiyumva (47) and Ndayisenga (73).In the fourth stage, 19-year-old Ndayisenga finished among the top ten. The stage covered 190km from Lambaréné –Mouila on Thursday.Ndayisenga is in second and fourth positions in the U23 category and Africa, respectively, while Spanish Luis Leon Sanchez of Caja Rural - Seguros RG retains the leader’s Yellow jersey.Eritrea’s MTN Qhubeka’s  Debesay Frekalsi rider won stage four after clocking 4h42’36’’. For the sixth stage today, riders will run from Port-Gentil (Circuit 126 Km).
