Generally speaking, we all go through different capable hands of teachers along our educational paths either in or outside school. Some teachers become our role models, mentors as well as best friends along the way. At the end of the day we have to agree that indeed teachers play a big part as regards to our academic success. In a class students have different abilities thus different strength of understanding the concept of the lesson. So the huge task remains for the teacher to bring such students to the same level of understanding so as to get similar output which is success. There some teachers who, whenever they are delivering their lessons they tend to go ahead with those who are following or understanding the concept of the lesson while leaving those who seem to have a difficult time and this greatly sets a gap between the teacher and students that don’t seem to follow what is being taught. In many cases those left behind will grow to dislike the teacher. All students wish to have understanding teachers, teachers that know very well the different levels of abilities that the students have. Personally, while at school I was always amazed by our teacher’s great concern about us as students. They knew how to twist their teaching techniques so that everyone understands the lesson both the weak and strong students. More so, every student had personal contact with the teacher which always alerted and kept the teacher aware of his/her student’s academic level of understanding as well as their performance.Definitely this was something that we all liked as students, getting along and having a direct contact with our teachers and this gave us an opportunity to improve and boost our understanding of what we were expected to do while in school. Correspondingly this acted as a catalyst to our academic excellence. In brief, teachers ought to know that students need your help for their academic success but the only way to achieve that goal is through cooperation with you. Get to understand their abilities in the different subjects. In my view that can be simply done through getting closer to your students which breaks the gap of fear and lack of contact. Remember your personal contact with a student means a lot, it influences their decisions, inspires and encourages them to work hard and excel.
