Flora Kaitesi is a news anchor and reporter at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency. The jovial Kaitesi spoke to Society Magazine’s Doreen Umutesi about her fashion sense. How would you describe your fashion sense? For me comfort is key, but in as much as I seek comfort, I must look stylish. Although my field of work throws me into the limelight most times, I really don’t like attention and I’ll be a bit uncomfortable if I wear something that will make people’s heads turn. Although I’ve had heads turn before when I wore a figure hugging skirt I randomly designed made of African print fabric and elastic. What’s your favourite clothing item? I’m obsessed with leggings and scarves. My obsession with leggings began when I got tired of wearing jeans; not that I stopped but at some point, they felt too cumbersome and were restricting movement. Leggings feel more comfortable and nowadays there are stylish leggings that you can match up with anything. I also love shoes, I lost count of how many pairs of shoes I have and I’m always giving them away, so come shopping. (laughs)Where do you shop for clothes? Where do you shop for clothes? That’s a tough question. Well, when I travel outside the country, I try and shop for unique things that I cannot get locally, problem is, I always end up buying too many black clothes because I love black but when this happens I just accessorize with a nice necklace, earrings and ring. I also like second hand clothes because many times I find very unique pieces. What do you consider when shopping for clothes? Style, comfort and the right size. It really bothers me when I see ladies wearing a skirt, several sizes smaller and then start pulling them down and you can clearly see they are uncomfortable. Or others wearing jeans several sizes smaller and next thing you know the flesh around the waist is spilling over or the under garments are peeping out. So, yes, the right size is quite importantWhat is your favourite fashion accessory? My rings. I cannot get out of the house without a ring. They are my most treasured accessory. What is your favourite clothing item on a guy? A watch and stylish shoesWhat’s your favourite scent? I have several but I discovered one sometime back that I share a name with; Flora by Gucci and when I tried it I never looked back even though I kept two others to change once in a while. A close friend once remarked; "it’s not every day that you have a perfume named for you”.  So I’m hooked.Any fashion advice? Fashion is the one thing that can speak volumes for those who have a sense of it. With fashion we sometimes subconsciously express ourselves and so if you just blend your personal style comfortably and get the right size, you will certainly avoid fashion disasters.
