Over 400 youths concluded their five-week-long training at the National Ubutore Development Centre (NUDC) in Nkumba, Burera District.

The 13th edition of the Indangamirwa series of civic education, Itorero, witnessed active participation of a diverse group of students aged 18 to 25.

Among the 415 trainees this year were 235 boys and 177 girls who came together to primarily acquire knowledge in military skills and civic training.

The closing ceremony, on Friday, August 25, was graced by President Paul Kagame who encouraged the graduates to always strive to contribute to their country, regardless of their professions.

The trainees included Rwandan students attending schools across Asia, Europe, America, and Africa. Also present were the top performers from the recently concluded Itorero for Advanced Level secondary school graduates in Rwanda, along with some of the highest-achieving employees from various government institutions and districts.

Since its inception in 2008, a total of 4,624 young Rwandans have participated in the Indangamirwa programme.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Pascal Harelimana pledged to be good ambassadors for the country wherever they go and role models in society by fighting drugs, volunteering in different fields of work, and taking good care of their mental health, among other things.
