Strive to be at your best in 2014

You and I are among the luckiest young people that have managed to progressively set a foot in this wonderful New Year. I believe we made it to this year for a big reason; not only by God’s grace and love, but I also by the fact that we have a mission to fulfil, goals to achieve, success to pursue to mention but a few.

You and I are among the luckiest young people that have managed to progressively set a foot in this wonderful New Year. I believe we made it to this year for a big reason; not only by God’s grace and love, but I also by the fact that we have a mission to fulfil, goals to achieve, success to pursue to mention but a few. This is a year to carry that very big dream that you have been having for all these past years and bravely take it on your shoulders, make time for it and put in all the extra hard work to achieve it.I believe William Award set for us a good example as he noted that the recipe for success is to, "study while others are sleeping, work while others are loafing prepare while others are wishing.” That meant that to achieve success, you have to go an extra mile.

This also echoes the common adage that goes, ‘Extra ordinary people do ordinary things extra ordinarily well.’ Academically, if you were not lucky enough to get promoted, please believe me and forget about the disappointment and work towards turning the disappointment into success. Do not feel discouraged, double the effort and you will succeed. Look at yourself as a winner because losing is not an option. On the other hand, for those who were promoted you need to keep up the good work. This is not the time for you to relax and assume all is well. Take time to see what you could have done better last year and make it a point to do it. Socially, strive to walk in a straight lane, discover your own purpose and aim at living a meaningful life that is properly guided by proper values and principles. Personally, I think this should be the year to have a total positive makeover. It doesn’t matter how many times you tried something but failed. Believe me, this is the year to forget all those failures, mistakes and weaknesses and look forward to something bigger and better. It is however not easy to achieve this positive makeover without seeking help from parents, teachers and anyone else you believe is in a position to be of help. And as you seek for help on achieving all you have set out to, how about you start by writing down a plan. Something you can regularly go back to and see if you are on track or not. All in all, plan, strategise and dream big in this New Year. I wish you a fruitful 2014
