AFTER painfully seeing Rayon Sports suffer the inaugural Ombudsman Cup hatchet at the hands of rivals Police FC, coach Didier Gomes da Rosa could not be happier after his side bounced back to thump Marines 4-1 in the Turbo King Football League on Sunday at Stade de Kigali – effectively moving into fourth position on the log.

AFTER painfully seeing Rayon Sports suffer the inaugural Ombudsman Cup hatchet at the hands of rivals Police FC, coach Didier Gomes da Rosa could not be happier after his side bounced back to thump Marines 4-1 in the Turbo King Football League on Sunday at Stade de Kigali – effectively moving into fourth position on the log."It was a brilliant performance by the team; the players worked with determination, our level of playing was extraordinary,” da Rosa said."We got four goals and it was a sweet and remarkable win because we hadn’t been doing well in past few games, we could have had more goals but I am happy with the result.”Gentil Kambale Salita opened the goal-scoring spree for the champions only after three minutes before Berthe Dusange leveled matters with a brilliant header in the 33rd minute.At the stroke of half-time, impressive midfielder Cedric Amissi restored Rayon’s lead with a stunning hweader from a Fuadi Ndayisenga’s corner kick.Meddie Kagere came on for the injured Salita on the 65th minute and five minutes later set up Djamal Mwiseneza for the third goal.And, with five minutes to the end of the game, Kagere made it 4-1 after controlling a neat pass from Ndayisenga.Relishing the victory, the French tactician said: "It’s a win we needed; we needed to close the gap on leaders. I am happy with the way my players have responded.”"We will continue to push hard and try to win as many games as possible as we firmly keep our sights on top spot,” added Gomes.The defending champions now have 19 points, three behind leaders AS Kigali.Rayon Sports will next travel to AS Kigali on Sunday – at Stade de Kigali. The Kigali-City sponsored side lead the standings with 22 points after ten matches played.
