Twenty-five people have won Rwf100,000 each in the ongoing Rwanda Revenue Authority ‘Consumer Compliance Awards’, where buyers who demand for electronic receipts from traders are rewarded by the tax body. The winners were selected during a lucky draw on Friday at Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) headquarters in Kimihurura.  The RRA deputy commissioner general, Richard Tusabe, emphasised that rewarding customers who demand for e-receipts is aimed at ensuring that every value added tax (VAT) taxpayer uses an e-billing machine to boost efficiency in VAT collections."These machines allow us to cut costs on auditing personnel and promote compliance. Once a trader issues a receipt to a buyer, it is registered in our database,” he explained. He added that RRA will, effective January, scrap tax receipts issued without using electronic billing machines to phase out manual methods of paying VAT.Pergamon, Inzonvou and AA-UNI Rwanda are the only firms authorised by the Rwanda Revenue Authority to supply e-billing machines. The machines automatically calculate value added tax owed by businesses, as well as control sales and stocks by processing and storing invoices. The winning receipt numbers are 32307/32346 NS, 173/240NS, 4942/9806 NS, 552/1023 NS, 2620/5129 NS, 596/1213NS, 557/1033 NS, 420/770 NS, 1398/1458 NS, 33019/33058NS and 16458/30623NS.
