Muhazi United are eyeing a top six finish after Rwf400 million has been pumped into the team ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The budget increase was announced after both Rwamagana and Kayonza Districts committed to join hands in supporting the club since it rebranded from Rwamagana City FC in July.
Rebranding the club to Muhazi United was an idea of Eastern Province Governor Emmanuel Gasana so as to involve both districts, which are in his Province, in the same football project.
According to club president Longin Nkaka, the districts have so far provided Rwf200million to the team before the start of the new season and they will commit more money in their new budget for the coming quarter of current fiscal year.
Muhazi FC escaped relegation by a whisker in the 2022/23 season and, after committing to pumping in more cash in the club, Nkaka and the entire committee asked head coach Emmanuel Ruremesha to help the team finish in the top six in the league and at least the semifinals in the Peace Cup.
"I think, given the squad I have, there is so much confidence that we can achieve the top six because I don’t have a bad squad. If the club management does their part and we get the backing needed, we can achieve the set target,” said Ruremesha.
"This team has been competing under difficult conditions but I am glad that two districts joined the forces to make this team stronger. We agreed on the set target because they know what it takes to achieve it,” he added.
The task is not beyond Muhazi FC as the group now looks more motivated than last season. One of the biggest motivations in football is money and they have the needed funds enough to pay plyers and coaching staff in time.
Club captain, Samuel Isiak Habineza echoed his coach’s ambitions and could only share with the supporter a reason for optimism ahead of the coming season.
"We can achieve our goals, the club management is on our side and the coaches are doing their best to put us on a good level. We, players, are committed to giving whatever it takes to achieve the targets,” Habineza said.
Though Muhazi United is the merging of two districts namely Rwamagana and Kayonza, the team will be playing their home games in Ngoma but the club's administrative headquarters will stay in Rwamagana City.
Ruremesha starts the new season with a squad of 26 players including 12 new players who signed for the club during the current transfer window.
One of the biggest players they signed is Joseph Louis Sackey who won the Player of the season for 2022/23 with Ghanaian first division side Wa Suntaa FC.
The central midfielder played 20 games for Wa Suntaa FC, scored four goals, provided six assists and won eight man of the match awards.
He was courted by Bechem United, Berekum Chelsea, Real Tamale United and others before opting for Muhazi FC.
