The price of Irish potatoes has dropped by about Rwf30, with a kilogramme now at Rwf150 from Rwf180 in most markets around Kigali.

The price of Irish potatoes has dropped by about Rwf30, with a kilogramme now at Rwf150 from Rwf180 in most markets around Kigali.Vincent Bahizi, the chairman of Kimironko Market attributed the drop to increased domestic supply and importation from neighbouring countries.However, other foodstuff prices remained stable. A kilogramme of sugar costs Rwf700 and Rwf800 and that of rice goes for Rwf700 and Rwf1,000 for in Nyarungege and Nyabugogo markets, respectively.Millet flour costs Rwf1,220 per kilogramme, groundnut paste is at Rwf1,200 and cassava flour Rwf600 per kilo. Beans go for between Rwf500 and Rwf600 a kilogramme, while maize flour is at Rwf670 a kilo in most city markets and shops.  Tomatoes cost Rwf700 per kilogramme and that of onions and other vegetables cost between Rwf500 and Rwf800. Beef costs between Rwf2,000 and Rwf2,300 in Giporoso and Kicukiro, respectively, while a tray of eggs goes for Rwf2,500 in Kimironko market.
