KIE gets new Rector, vice Rector

KIGALI - The top leadership of Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) has been replaced. The former Rector, Emmanuel Mudidi, was replaced by Prof. George Njoroge, who formerly occupied the post of vice Rector, Academic affairs.

KIGALI - The top leadership of Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) has been replaced. The former Rector, Emmanuel Mudidi, was replaced by Prof. George Njoroge, who formerly occupied the post of vice Rector, Academic affairs.

A Cabinet meeting also appointed Dr. James Vuningoma, formerly Dean of the Faculty of Arts at KIE, as the new vice Rector. Vuningoma was at one time the Editor-in-Chief of The New Times. The Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) was also given a new vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs; Prof. John Mshana. 

The cabinet also appointed Michael Rukata to the new post of Bureau Diplomatique’  in South Korea, while Joseph Kabakeza is now the new director of the bilateral and multilateral cooperation directorate in the ministry of foreign affairs.

The police force also registered significant change in its lower ranks with 1,410 promoted to sergeants, while 393 police constables were promoted to corporals. 

In the same meeting, Superintendent Célestin Twahirwa was appointed to head the disaster management coordination unit in the police.

The unit was recently moved from the Prime Minister’s office to the Ministry of Internal Affairs which oversees the police. Some of the country’s top institutions of higher learning also registered significant appointments.
