Football scouts from six European countries are expected in Kigali in November to assess young Rwandan players for potential opportunities at clubs abroad.

The scouts will come from the Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Portugal and Germany under the TM9R Scouting Program, an initiative organised by Rwanda-based TM9R Academy.

Eight scouts are expected to attend the five-day programme, which will bring together 12 Rwandan teams with players aged between 15 and 19.

Interested teams have until the end of October to register for the competition. The teams will compete against one another, giving players an opportunity to showcase their abilities before the visiting scouts.

TM9R Academy Deputy Director Ines Ishimwe said the initiative aims to create opportunities for young Rwandan footballers to pursue careers in competitive leagues abroad.

"TM9R has invited football talent scouts from European countries. The aim is to develop Rwandan talent and establish a bridge connecting these players with clubs in some of the world’s top leagues,” she said.

The programme is expected to become an annual event, with scouts returning to Rwanda each year to identify new football talent.
