Rayon Sports secured their first victory of the BK Pro League season with a convincing 3-0 win over Musanze FC at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday.
The Blues, who drew with Sunrise FC and lost to Gorilla FC in their opening two matches, bounced back with an impressive display to claim all three points.
Kameni opened the scoring in the 20th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to collect the ball and fire past Musanze goalkeeper Jean de Dieu Nsabimana.
Rayon continued to threaten, with Iradukunda and Daniel Muhoza creating opportunities, while Musanze struggled to turn their attacking moves into clear-cut chances.
The hosts thought they had doubled their lead in the 38th minute when Muhoza scored following a save by Nsabimana, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Iradukunda eventually extended Rayon’s advantage in the 53rd minute, beating Musanze defenders before slotting home to make it 2-0.
Musanze had an immediate chance to respond when Christivie Bioko went past Charles Tchouplaou and goalkeeper Dande Junior, but the forward failed to find the target despite being in a promising position.
Rayon punished the visitors again in the 69th minute when Muderi unleashed a powerful shot to make it 3-0 and put the result beyond doubt.
Musanze came close to pulling one back in the 72nd minute, but substitute Tity Hakizimana’s effort struck the woodwork. Nsabimana later denied Ganijuru to prevent Rayon from extending their lead further.
Dande also produced a late save to keep out Christivie in stoppage time, ensuring Rayon finished the match with a clean sheet.
Iradukunda was named Player of the Match after an influential performance capped by a goal.
The victory lifted Rayon to 11th place with four points, while Musanze remained 10th with six points.
Rayon will next travel to Rubavu to face Marine FC as they seek to build on their first league win of the campaign.
