The Rwanda Insurers Association (ASSAR) and the UK-based Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen skills and qualifications in Rwanda’s insurance industry.

Together they will assess the sector’s needs, map the skills required for specific roles and set minimum competency standards. CII will develop and deliver qualifications and technical training locally. The two will also explore a certification programme for insurance agents and review existing Rwandan certification programmes for possible accreditation under the CII framework.

The MoU also covers the exchange of expertise in insurance and financial services, and the mutual recognition of professional development initiatives.
