Amagaju FC produced a sensational second-half performance to thrash Sunrise FC 4-0 in Huye, while Marines FC claimed a commanding 4-0 victory over local rivals Etincelles FC in the Rubavu derby as Matchday Five of the BK Pro League continued on Saturday.

Amagaju bounced back emphatically from their previous defeat to Mukura VS&L, securing their second league win of the season and climbing into the provisional top four.

The first half at Kamena Stadium ended goalless despite both teams showing attacking intent.

Amagaju came close to breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute when Lody Mwinyi unleashed a powerful effort that narrowly missed the target. At the other end, Sunrise midfielder Jean Petit Nizeyimana tested Amagaju goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato with a long-range effort.

The hosts eventually broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half when Potty Masimango fired home from the edge of the box after receiving a pass from Saidi Niyitegeka.

Amagaju doubled their advantage in the 59th minute as Ayilara Samson rose highest to head home a corner delivered by Congolese midfielder Gloire Shaban.

Shaban turned provider again seven minutes later, threading a precise through ball to Rodrigue Lody Mwinyi, who beat two defenders before calmly slotting past Sunrise goalkeeper Didier Mfashingabo to make it 3-0.

Masimango capped an outstanding performance in the 81st minute, racing down the left flank, beating his marker and finishing confidently to complete the emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, Marines FC stole the spotlight in Rubavu with a convincing 4-0 victory over rivals Etincelles FC in the Western Province derby.

Marines delivered a clinical performance to claim local bragging rights and strengthen their position in the early-season standings while Etincelles endured a disappointing afternoon in front of their home supporters.

In another fixture, Etoile de l'Est FC and Mukura VS&L shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw. Both teams created opportunities to secure victory but ultimately had to settle for a point apiece.

The results see Amagaju climb to fourth place with seven points, while Sunrise remain seventh with six points.

Attention now turns to Matchday Six, with Amagaju set to travel to face Gorilla FC and Sunrise preparing to host Etoile de l'Est.
