Kenyan outside hitter Dennis Ireke has returned to APR VC ahead of the 2026/27 season after spending several months away from the club following a registration dispute during the African Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in April.
Ireke was reportedly unable to feature for Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), which had recruited him as a reinforcement player for the continental competition, because he was already registered with APR VC under the Volleyball Information System (VIS).
After months away from the club, the 26-year-old is set to rejoin his teammates just three days before Rwanda’s volleyball league begins on Friday, October 16.
A source close to APR VC told Times Sport that Ireke will return on a one-year contract, with the possibility of an extension.

Ireke’s return comes as APR VC continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign. The army side has also signed opposite attacker Wicklif Dusenge, libero Saduru Manzi and middle blocker Arnaud Ntayomba.
The Kenyan brings valuable experience and attacking quality to the team, having previously impressed under coach Sammy Mulinge. He was named Most Valuable Player of the 2024/25 Rwanda Volleyball League season and represented APR VC at the African Men’s Club Volleyball Championship, where the club finished fourth.
Ireke was also named in the tournament’s Dream Team, further highlighting his impact at club and continental level.
His return is expected to bolster APR VC’s attacking options as the club prepares to challenge for the league title in the 2026/27 season.
