The officers received a briefing on the RDF’s transformation journey, followed by an interactive session led by Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa, Director General of International Military Cooperation in the Ministry of Defence.

Muganga said the visit reflects the strong bilateral and military relations between Rwanda and Malawi and expressed confidence that the engagement would benefit the visiting officers.

"I trust that your engagement in Rwanda will provide valuable insights to contribute to your professional development,” Muganga said.

Mambo said Rwanda was selected for the study tour because of its experience in security, resilience and national development.

"You cannot miss Rwanda because Rwanda is the light of all African countries,” Mambo said.

The tour is also exploring Rwanda’s use of cyber capabilities and smart technologies, as well as its approach to peacebuilding and national development.

The delegation visited RDF welfare institutions, including Zigama CSS, Military Medical Insurance (MMI) and the Armed Forces Shop, to learn about support systems for military personnel.

The officers also visited Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum, where they learned about the history of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, how it was stopped and the importance of preserving its memory and preventing genocide.
