The national women’s football team coach André Casa Mbungo has said his squad is ready for the qualifiers of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
She-Amavubi will host Ethiopia in the first leg of the preliminary-round tie at Kigali Pelé Stadium on October 7 at 6pm before travelling for the return leg.
Victory over Ethiopia would keep Rwanda’s hopes of making a first-ever appearance at the Olympic Games alive and send them into the next stage of the qualification campaign.
Speaking after the team’s initial training camp, Mbungo said the players had responded well to preparations.
"After four days of training, the players have reached a good level and are ready to compete for victory in the match against Ethiopia. We also hope that our fans will come to support,” he noted.
The coaching staff used the opening days of camp to assess the players’ physical and tactical readiness, with fitness a key focus after many returned from a lengthy break following the conclusion of the women’s football season.
