Taylor Swift breaks two Spotify records

Taylor Swift has broken two Spotify records for 2026 following the September 25 release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, an expanded edition featuring four new songs: "Patient Zero,” "Cleveland!”, "Pink Clouding” and "Babylon.”

Swift became the most-streamed female artist on Spotify in a single day this year, while "Patient Zero” set a record as the most-streamed song by a female artist in one day in 2026. Spotify did not disclose the exact number of streams behind either record.

The achievement comes ahead of the premiere of the "Patient Zero” music video at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27. The video stars Swift alongside Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell and features cinematography by Oscar-winning filmmaker Emmanuel Lubezki.

Sabrina Carpenter joins Tom Holland in Fred Astaire biopic

Tom Holland’s upcoming Fred Astaire biopic film has added Margaret Qualley and Sabrina Carpenter to its cast.

Holland will play Astaire, with Qualley portraying his sister and original dance partner, Adele Astaire, while Carpenter will play Ginger Rogers, Astaire’s famous dance partner. The film will be directed by Paul King.

Holland has also said he plans to perform the film’s dance sequences himself, without using a double.

SZA inducted into New Jersey Hall of Fame

SZA has been inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, joining artists including Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah and Frank Sinatra.

The seven-time Grammy winner was honoured at a ceremony on September 24, recognising her connection to New Jersey, where she was raised after being born in St. Louis. SZA said the honour was one of the biggest she had received.

She also shared a lighter moment on Instagram, writing: "More importantly I met Danny DeVito.” DeVito, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010, hosted the ceremony.
