Leonard Ndagijimana, the president of the Parti Démocrate Centriste (PDC), has been elected as the Spokesperson of the National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations (NFPO), replacing Frank Habineza of Green Party.
He was elected during NFPO's General Assembly on Thursday, September 24.
Senator Hadidja Ndangiza Murangwa of the Parti démocratique idéal (PDI) was elected as Deputy Spokesperson, replacing Neema Eugenie Ingabire of the Union Démocratique du Peuple Rwandais (UDPR).

NFPO's spokesperson is elected every six months.
Ndagijimana thanked members of the 11-party forum for their trust and committed to coordinating its activities.
His responsibilities include presiding over general meetings and supervising the forum’s day-to-day operations, including its leadership academy, which prepares young people for participation in the political landscape.
According to the forum’s guidelines, the positions of spokesperson and deputy spokesperson must be held by members of different political parties and ensure gender balance, with one male and one female.

The newly elected team also commended the outgoing leadership for its service and commitment to steering the forum’s activities.
Who is Leonard Ndagijimana?
Leonard Ndagijimana, a former member of the Chamber of Deputies, was elected president of the Centrist Democratic Party (PDC) for a five-year term in August 2026.
Ndagijimana has been a member of the PDC for 34 years and has served as its Secretary General since 2015.
He served in the Chamber of Deputies from 2018 to 2024 and previously worked as a commissioner at the National Electoral Commission.
He has also held positions in the former Ministry of Environment and Tourism, as well as responsibilities related to education, research and project management.
The PDC was among the political parties that supported the Arusha Peace negotiations of the early 1990s, which sought power-sharing and a lasting political settlement in Rwanda.
Following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, the party continued its political activities, and in 2003 it joined an alliance of political parties that supported the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) during the presidential and parliamentary elections.
