Rwanda women’s head coach André Cassa Mbungo has named a provisional squad for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games women’s football qualifiers against Ethiopia.
Rwanda will host Ethiopia in the first leg of the preliminary-round tie at Kigali Pelé Stadium on October 7 at 6pm before travelling for the return leg.
Victory over Ethiopia would keep Rwanda’s hopes of qualifying for what would be their first Olympic Games appearance alive and see them progress to the next stage of the qualification campaign.
Mbungo’s provisional squad combines experienced internationals with emerging talents from the domestic women’s league.
Rayon Sports WFC has provided the largest contingent, while APR WFC, Police WFC, AS Kigali WFC, Indahangarwa WFC, Bugesera WFC and Mutunda WFC are also represented.
The coach has also called up two Rwanda internationals based abroad — Darleine Ishimwe, who plays for Spanish side EM Feminas Soliss Fuensalida, and Evelyne Ishimwe Mizero of Turkish club Haymana Spor Kulübü.
The squad is expected to enter camp ahead of the first-leg encounter as Rwanda begin their bid for a place at the 2028 Olympic Games.
