APR FC 4-2 Marines FC
APR FC produced an impressive comeback to defeat Marines FC 4-2 at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Wednesday after falling two goals behind in an entertaining BK Pro League encounter.
Marines took the lead in the 16th minute through Sultan Bobo Sibomana, giving the Rubavu-based side an early advantage.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 34th minute when Aimé Ntirushwa found the back of the net, putting APR under significant pressure.
However, APR responded almost immediately. Two minutes after Marines’ second goal, striker Cheick Djibril Ouattara pulled one back in the 36th minute to reduce the deficit and keep the military side in contention before halftime.
APR returned from the break with renewed determination and drew level six minutes into the second half through Raouf Memel Dao.
The momentum had shifted completely, and Ouattara completed his brace in the 61st minute to put APR ahead for the first time.
His clinical finishing proved decisive as Marines struggled to contain APR’s attacking pressure.
With Marines pushing for an equaliser, Fidali Uwihoreye added a fourth goal in the 81st minute to complete APR’s comeback and seal all three points.
The victory gave APR a winning start to their 2026/27 BK Pro League campaign, underlining their resilience and attacking threat as they begin their title defence.
Al Hilal make winning start
Defending champions Al Hilal SC also opened their 2026/27 BK Pro League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Kigali FC earlier on Wednesday.
The Sudanese giants took control from the opening minutes and were rewarded in the 16th minute when Ansumana Samura broke the deadlock with a clinical finish.
Kigali FC struggled to create clear chances as Al Hilal maintained control after the break and doubled their lead in the 63rd minute through Ahmed Saleh, whose composed finish effectively sealed the three points.
Despite the comfortable victory, Al Hilal head coach Josef Zinnbauer endured a frustrating end to the evening after being shown a red card following the final whistle.
The German tactician appeared to have been involved in a misunderstanding with match officials, resulting in his dismissal.
Nevertheless, the result gave the reigning champions a winning start as they began their title defence with goals from Samura and Saleh.
