Gicumbi FC maintained their perfect start to the 2026/27 BK Pro League season after overcoming Etoile de l’Est 2-1 on Tuesday at Ngoma Stadium to make it three wins out of three and stay top of the table with a maximum nine points.
Lotfi Afahmia’s side took the lead in the 18th minute through Jean Merveil Tuyisenge, who finished off a well-worked move to put the visitors in control.
Etoile de l’Est responded strongly and found an equaliser just before the halftime break when Seiri Arigumaho beat the goalkeeper to send the sides into the interval level at 1-1.
With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Kevin Iradukunda emerged as the hero for the visitors, striking in the 85th minute to seal another important victory and extend the club's impressive start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, SC Kiyovu picked up their first points of the season after edging Bugesera FC 1-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium.
The Green Baggies came into the match under pressure following defeats in their opening two league games, but Aime Placide Rwabuhihi's 42nd-minute strike proved enough to hand them a much-needed first win of the campaign.
Elsewhere, at Umuganda Stadium, Etincelles FC left it late to secure all three points against Musanze FC. Congolese forward Gédeon Ndoga Bivula scored deep into stoppage time to give the Rubavu-based side a dramatic 1-0 victory and continue their encouraging start to the season.
Attention now turns to Wednesday's fixtures, where Kigali FC will face one of their toughest tests of the season against Al Hilal SC at Kigali Pele Stadium.
