Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been drawn alongside Cameroon and the Central African Republic in Group D of the 2026 African Men’s Nations Volleyball Championship, which runs from September 15-26 in Tunis, Tunisia.

The championship features 16 nations divided into four pools, with all matches set to be played in Tunisia. The North African country is hosting the continental tournament for the seventh time since 1967.

Rwanda, coached by Frédéric Guérin, face a tough challenge against Cameroon, who are coached by Jean-Patrick Ndaki, a familiar figure in the Rwandan volleyball league after spending three seasons with Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Kepler VC.

Cameroon finished runners-up in 2019 and 2021, with the latter edition held in Kigali. They will be seeking to end a 25-year wait for the continental title, having last won the championship in 2001.

In Pool A, hosts Tunisia have been drawn alongside Ghana and Kenya. Tunisia are the most successful team in the competition, with 11 titles.

Pool B features Egypt, Morocco and Gambia, while Pool C comprises Algeria, Chad and Nigeria.

Rwanda last competed at the African Men’s Nations Volleyball Championship in 2023 in Cairo, Egypt, where they finished sixth.
