Star outside hitter Samuel Niyogisubizo has returned to Kirehe VC on a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.

The 31-year-old rejoins the club he last represented during the 2017/18 season, when he helped Kirehe finish fourth in the league before going on to win the post-season Carre d’As tournament.

Niyogisubizo’s return provides a major boost for Kirehe VC ahead of the 2026/27 season, which gets underway on October 16. The club will be looking to improve on a difficult 2025/26 campaign, when they finished seventh.

Who is Niyogisubizo?

Niyogisubizo began his career with Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC), where he helped the team win the men’s volleyball title at the seventh EALASCA (East African Local Authorities, Sports and Culture Associations) Games in 2015.

In 2018, he joined UTB and helped the team finish third in the league. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the regular season.

He later played for Gisagara VC shortly after the Covid-19 pandemic before joining Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in 2023. He subsequently returned to Gisagara.
