The Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) has confirmed that the 2026 Rwanda Cup will take place in early October.
Times Sport understands that all men’s and women’s clubs will be invited to participate in the third edition of the tournament.
The Rwanda Cup was introduced by FERWABA in 2024, with APR winning the inaugural men’s title. In 2025, Tigers Basketball Club claimed the second edition after defeating Rwanda Energy Group (REG) 83–77 in the final.
The competition aims to increase the number of basketball competitions and participating teams in the country, while providing more opportunities for player development and helping raise overall performance standards.
The winners of the Rwanda Cup and the national league will also meet in the Rwanda Super Cup, which is played before the start of the new season.
The Super Cup will be decided in a single game, with the winner determined after a 40-minute contest played over four quarters.
