Kawempe Muslim Ladies WFC will officially represent the CECAFA region at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after securing the zone’s sole qualification ticket with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kenya Police Bullets in the qualifying final at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Monday.

The Ugandan champions and their Kenyan counterparts battled through a tightly contested 90 minutes without finding a breakthrough, as both defences stood firm to keep the score level.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 100th minute of extra time when Agnes Nabukenya found the decisive goal, putting Kawempe in front and within touching distance of the regional title.

Police Bullets pushed for an equaliser in the remaining minutes, but Kawempe held their nerve to protect their lead, secure the victory and lift the CECAFA qualifying trophy.

The triumph makes Kawempe Muslim Ladies the first Ugandan club to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League through the CECAFA qualifiers.

Kawempe booked their place in the final with a convincing 3-0 semi-final victory over Ethiopia’s CBE WFC, while Police Bullets reached the decider after cruising past South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars with a commanding 5-0 win.

The Ugandan champions will now carry the CECAFA region’s flag into the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
