Rayon Sports departed for Yaoundé, Cameroon, on Monday morning aboard a RwandAir flight ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary-round clash against Panthère Sportive du Ndé.

The Blues will face the Cameroonian side in the first leg on September 4 before hosting the return leg in Kigali on September 12.

The draw handed Rayon Sports a familiar opponent, with the two sides having previously met in the preliminary round of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup. Rayon Sports advanced from that tie before being eliminated by Egyptian giants Zamalek in the following round.

Having strengthened their squad ahead of the new season, the Blues will be aiming for a positive result in Cameroon to put themselves in a strong position ahead of the return leg before their home fans.

Rayon Sports are also seeking to build on their recent regional success after winning the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup earlier this month.

Should the Rwandan champions eliminate Panthère Sportive du Ndé, they will face either Atomic Ngome of Comoros or Mozambique’s Black Bulls FC in the second preliminary round.

The second-round winner will advance to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
