Fifty-four candidates, including 11 women, have been cleared to contest in the by-election for the youth representative seat in the Chamber of Deputies.
The final list was released on Tuesday, August 25, by National Electoral Commission (NEC).

The number of candidates has risen from 45 provisionally cleared by the electoral body on August 17.
The final list sets the stage for the September 2 vote to fill the seat left vacant following the resignation of youth MP Venuste Icyitegetse.

The winner will serve the remainder of the five-year parliamentary term that began in 2024.
NEC is expected to announce provisional results on September 2, with final results scheduled for September 9.
