American guard Craig Randall II was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) playoffs after playing a key role in APR BBC’s run to the 2026 championship.

APR claimed a record-extending 17th league title after completing a 4-0 finals sweep of Patriots with a commanding 114-76 victory in Game 4 at BK Arena on Monday, August 24.

Randall, 30, was one of the standout performers throughout the playoffs, consistently delivering big performances as APR marched to the title.

He opened the finals in spectacular fashion, scoring 40 points in Game 1 against Patriots.

The American guard had also played a crucial role in APR’s semi-final series against RSSB Tigers, whom he helped defeat to win the Basketball Africa League (BAL) championship in Kigali in May.

Randall scored 31 points in Game 2 against Tigers before adding 21 in Game 5 as APR secured their place in the finals.

Several other individual awards were handed out based on performances during the 2025/26 season.

Patriots forward Hubert Sage was named Most Improved Player, while teammate and power forward Garba Chingka collected two major awards—Regular Season MVP and Best Defender.

Patriots guard Franklin Damaria won the Best Scorer Award, while head coach Sunny Niyomugabo was named Coach of the Year.

Rwanda Energy Group (REG) point guard Elliot Cole received the Best 3-Point Shooter award.

In terms of prize money, champions APR BBC received Rwf15 million, while runners-up Patriots BBC took home Rwf7.5 million. REG BBC, who finished third, received Rwf3.5 million.
