The Rwanda Basketball League Finals enter Game 4 on Monday, August 24, with APR FC just one victory away from clinching the championship and Patriots facing the daunting task of overturning a 3-0 deficit.

APR have dominated the best-of-seven series so far and can be crowned champions if they win Game 4 at BK Arena. The military side strengthened their grip on the series with a 101-92 victory over Patriots in Game 3 at the same venue on Saturday.

Despite trailing heavily in the series, Patriots are expected to put up another strong fight as they attempt to keep their title hopes alive. However, APR have looked the stronger side throughout the opening three games.

A Patriots victory on Monday would force a Game 5 and give them a chance to extend the series further, potentially all the way to a decisive Game 7, if necessary, scheduled for Sunday, August 30.

How the two teams compare in trophies

APR and Patriots have a combined 20 Rwanda Basketball League championships, underlining their dominance of the domestic game.

Patriots have won four titles in the past decade, while APR have claimed three of their 16 championships during the same period, including two in the last three seasons.

What is at stake?

The winner of the best-of-seven finals series will be crowned RBL champion and earn the right to represent Rwanda in the 2027 Basketball Africa League (BAL).

For APR, another title would further cement their status as Rwanda's most decorated basketball club, taking their record haul of national championships to 17.

Patriots, meanwhile, are chasing their fifth league title and a return to the BAL for the first time since their debut appearance in 2021.

With APR holding a commanding 3-0 lead, the question is whether Patriots can produce a historic comeback or whether the military side will complete a clean sweep and lift the trophy on Monday.
