She said the city is also looking into how the street vendors were treated to ensure that any irregularities in handling the matter are corrected and those responsible are held accountable.
"Meanwhile we remind street vendors that this form of trading is illegal. Local authorities will continue carrying out inspections to eliminate illegal street vending, while those engaged in it will continue to be encouraged to stop, seek lawful employment and, wherever possible, be supported in accessing legal livelihood opportunities,” she said.
She reminded residents that everyone has a role to play in maintaining security and tranquillity in the city by engaging only in lawful activities.
"Any conduct that violates the law creates disorder and undermines public safety, and it will not be tolerated,” she said.
She added: "We urge Kigali residents to continue respecting security organs at all levels. Acts of violence against security personnel will not be tolerated, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable.”
