Motorcycle racing: Umuko Enduro Challenge brings local, international riders

Umuko Enduro Challenge get underway this August 22, bringing together around 20 local and international riders for a day of motorcycle racing at Muhazi, Rwamagana District.

Organised by the Rwanda Automobile Club (RAC), the event will feature riders from Rwanda and several other countries, including Belgium, Germany, France, Ethiopia.

According to Sébastien Houben, a representative of RAC, the competition is part of efforts to grow Rwanda's motorsport community while using motorcycle racing to promote tourism and economic activity.

"Hosting and promoting enduro motorcycle competitions in Rwanda is important because it boosts the motorsport community, tourism and the local economy, while showcasing the country's unique landscapes to a global audience,” he said.

The Umuko Enduro Challenge will feature four categories, with a trophy awarded in each: Open, 250cc, 450cc and Open Ladies.

This will give riders the opportunity to compete within different classes while also providing a dedicated category for female riders.
