I&M Bank, ABG expand ‘Ryoshya Iwawe’ with interest-free electronics, appliance financing

Customers looking to buy a wide range of home appliances and consumer electronics can now access interest-free financing of up to Rwf5 million from I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc, following its new partnership with Akagera Business Group (ABG) under the "Ryoshya Iwawe” campaign.

The partnership, signed on August 14, on the sidelines of the 29th Rwanda International Trade Fair (Expo 2026) at the Gikondo Expo Grounds in Kigali, adds Akagera Electronics to the growing pool of retailers participating in the campaign.h

Customers will be enabled to buy a wide range of home appliances and consumer electronics can now access interest-free financing of up to Rwf5 million from I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc,

Through the partnership, eligible I&M Bank customers can purchase selected electronics and home appliances from Akagera Electronics and pay for them over a period of six months without incurring interest.

According to the bank, customers can access financing of up to Rwf5 million, subject to the bank’s eligibility requirements, with loan applications processed within 24 hours.

The initiative is part of I&M Bank’s efforts to make quality household products more accessible to customers by providing flexible financing options that reduce the need for large upfront payments.

The "Ryoshya Iwawe” campaign was launched in 2024 and has previously partnered with Smart Retails, which operates Danube and HomePoint, which offers Hotpoint products.

With the addition of ABG, the bank is expanding the range of products and brands available to customers under the interest-free financing initiative.

Speaking at the partnership signing, Yves Kayihura, Head of Retail Banking at I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc, said the bank was pleased to welcome ABG to the campaign.

"We are delighted to welcome ABG to the Ryoshya Iwawe family of partners. Through this initiative, we are making it easier for Rwandans to access quality home appliances through affordable and flexible financing options, without the burden of interest for six months,” Kayihura said.

He added that the bank would continue expanding the campaign by bringing more partners on board and giving customers greater choice.

"Ryoshya Iwawe is designed to give our customers greater choice and convenience, and partnerships with established brands such as ABG allow us to extend this value even further,” he said.

Access to Samsung, Nobel and other appliances

Under the new arrangement, customers can acquire a selection of consumer electronics and home appliances available through Akagera Electronics, including televisions, air conditioners and other household equipment from brands such as Samsung and Nobel.

"By partnering with I&M Bank Rwanda, we are removing financial barriers, allowing our clients to upgrade their lifestyle or equip their businesses today without stretching their immediate cash flow,” he added.

How customers can access the financing

Parties explained that customers interested in the facility are required to visit an Akagera Electronics showroom and select their preferred qualifying appliances.

They then fill out a loan application form provided at the showroom. The application is submitted to an I&M Bank branch for processing, after which eligible customers can receive a loan decision within 24 hours.

Once approved, customers can collect their selected appliances and repay the financing over six months without interest, subject to the terms and conditions of the facility.

The partnership also gives customers access to a broader selection of products designed to improve convenience, comfort and functionality in homes and businesses.

I&M Bank’s growing retail offering

The bank incorporated in 1963, is one of Rwanda’s longest-established financial institutions and offers personal, business, institutional and corporate banking services.

The bank has a presence across Rwanda and has been listed on the Rwanda Stock Exchange since March 2017.
