New Kiyovu Sports head coach Mark Harrison has outlined his philosophy as he begins his tenure at the club ahead of BK Pro League, emphasizing possession, pressing, and game control as the foundation of his team's identity.
The experienced tactician believes that winning the ball back faster will allow Kiyovu to dictate matches and play the style of football he wants.
"We must become a team that reacts immediately when we lose the ball," Harrison said. "If you cannot win possession back, you spend too much time defending and you lose control of the game."
The coach insists that possession is more than just keeping the ball, describing it as a tool for controlling matches and creating scoring opportunities.
"I want my players to be brave on the ball," he explained. "The ball belongs to us and opponents should have to work very hard to take it away. When you keep possession well, you control the rhythm, create chances, and reduce the threat from the opposition."
The British coach brings a wealth of experience from across African football, having previously worked with clubs including Gor Mahia in Kenya, Golden Arrows and Chippa United in South Africa, Township Rollers in Botswana, and Harare City in Zimbabwe.
His technical team will include former Rutsiro FC coach Omar Rubangura and Halilu Sebarera, who ended the 2025-26 season as Rutsiro's interim head coach after Francis Haringingo departed for Rayon Sports.
