Rayon Sports will face Kenyan side Mathare United in a warm-up match as the Blues step up preparations for a demanding 2026/27 season.

Mathare United are currently on an eight-day pre-season tour of Kigali, running from August 12 to 19. The Kenyan side will face APR FC before taking on Rayon Sports on Sunday, August 16, at 3pm at Kigali Pelé Stadium.

The match will also provide the Blues with an opportunity to officially unveil their new kit for the 2026/27 season and celebrate their recent CECAFA Kagame Cup triumph with supporters.

The new jersey will feature Bank of Kigali (BK) as the front-of-shirt sponsor, while Jay Rutty will also appear as a shirt sponsor.

"We want our supporters to come in large numbers and enjoy this special occasion with us as we celebrate the CECAFA Kagame Cup and unveil our new jersey,” club president Abdallah Murenzi said.

Although the occasion will have a celebratory atmosphere, Murenzi stressed that the match remains an important part of the club’s preparations for a season filled with major challenges.

"We have also reshaped our preparations for the new season because we know the competitions ahead will require a strong and well-prepared squad,” he added.

The friendly against Mathare United will give Rayon Sports’ technical team another opportunity to assess the squad, test different tactical approaches and improve the players’ match fitness ahead of the start of competitive action.

The Blues are preparing for a busy campaign that will include the FERWAFA Super Cup, BK Pro League, Peace Cup and CAF Confederation Cup.
