The Rwanda Basketball League playoffs semi-finals reach a decisive stage on Wednesday, August 12, with Patriots and RSSB Tigers fighting to keep their hopes of reaching the finals alive.

In the best-of-five semi-final series, APR lead RSSB Tigers 2-1, while Rwanda Energy Group (REG) hold the same advantage over Patriots.

Game 4 will be played at Petit Stade, with victories for either APR or REG enough to send them through to the finals.

RSSB Tigers must therefore produce a comeback against an APR side that has won the last two games after losing the opening encounter. Tigers won Game 1 97-82 before APR responded with 82-79 and 96-85 victories in Games 2 and 3 respectively.

A Tigers victory on Wednesday would force a winner-takes-all Game 5, scheduled for Friday, August 14.

The same scenario awaits Patriots, who trail REG 1-2 in the other semi-final. Patriots won the opening game 84-75, but REG bounced back to claim Games 2 and 3 by 74-71 and 67-65 respectively.

REG will secure their place in the finals with another victory, while a Patriots win would force the series into a decisive fifth game.

Meanwhile, the women’s semi-finals will also continue, with REG facing APR in Game 3, while Kepler take on Hoops Rwanda.

APR levelled their series against REG at 1-1 after edging them 86-85 in Game 2.

Kepler also drew level with Hoops Rwanda at 1-1 after securing a 45-40 victory in the second game.
