Jamus SC goalkeeper Godwill Yogusuk believes the strong backing from South Sudanese fans living in Rwanda has played a key role in the club's impressive debut campaign at the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup and hopes their support will inspire the team to overcome Rayon Sports in Tuesday's semifinal at Kigali Pele Stadium.

Jamus arrived at the tournament as underdogs after being drawn in a daunting Group B alongside holders Singida Black Stars and Simba SC, the joint-most successful club in the competition's history.

However, the South Sudanese side, captained by Rwandan midfielder Kevin Muhire, defied expectations by reaching the semifinals at the expense of the Tanzanian giants, which were among pre-tournament favourites.

For Yogusuk, the team&039;s remarkable run reflects the determination and resilience that have defined their campaign.

As Jamus prepare for a decisive knockout clash against Rayon Sports, the goalkeeper credited South Sudanese supporters in Rwanda for giving the players extra motivation.

"The fans have been amazing, and that is why we pushed hard to get those results. Even when we went a goal down, we kept fighting because we knew they were behind us. Seeing the joy on their faces is a privilege we do not take for granted. We want to go all the way and win this trophy," Yogusuk said during Monday's pre-match press conference.

After advancing from the group stage, Jamus SC now face home side Rayon Sports in the first semifinal encounter.

While Jamus have former Rayon Sports Kevin Muhire in their ranks, head coach Saber Ben Jabria insisted the midfielder will not be the team&039;s only weapon against the Rwandan club.

The Tunisian tactician said the team's growing cohesion and defensive organisation have given him confidence ahead of the encounter.

"We have prepared well. It has been one month and 10 days since I joined the club, and my priority has been to build a solid defensive structure. Having a good goalkeeper already gives you 50 percent of the solution. With a strong defence and an organised attack, we are ready for the challenge," Ben Jabria said.

Representing South Sudan, Jamus SC will be aiming to continue their fairytale run against a Rayon Sports side which qualified for the semifinals after winning all three group stage matches including Saturday's 1-0 win over Al Hilal SC.
