RSSB Tigers have strengthened their squad ahead of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) playoffs by signing experienced American forward Tyler Tarik Bey.

The 27-year-old joins the Tigers after a stint with Trotamundos de Carabobo in Venezuela. He has also played for Homenetmen Beirut in Lebanon, adding to an extensive professional career that has taken him across several continents.

Tarik Bey was selected 36th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers before his rights were traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He went on to feature for Dallas during the 2020–21 NBA season.

Since then, he has played professionally in Israel, Lebanon, Taiwan, the Philippines and Venezuela, bringing valuable international experience to the Tigers as they chase the league title.

The American forward is expected to arrive in Rwanda on Thursday night.

The RBL playoffs tip off on August 5 at BK Arena. Top-seeded APR will face fourth-placed RSSB Tigers in the semi-finals, while second-seeded Patriots will take on third-placed REG. The semi-finals will be played in a best-of-five format, with the finals contested over a best-of-seven series.

The APR-RSSB Tigers matchup is widely expected to be the marquee series of the playoffs. APR will be aiming to extend their domestic dominance, while the Tigers head into the postseason as the reigning Basketball Africa League (BAL) champions after making history by winning the 2026 title on home soil in Kigali in May
