APR HC are close to completing the signing of Police HC duo Yves Kayijamahe and Emmanuel Kubwimana as the reigning champions move to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Sources familiar with the negotiations told Times Sport that both players have agreed personal terms with APR and are now awaiting release letters from Police HC before the transfers can be completed.

The two Rwanda internationals are understood to have already initiated the buyout process, although discussions over their contractual obligations with Police HC are still ongoing.

According to the sources, APR have tabled an attractive package to secure the pair, including two-year contracts, monthly salaries of Rwf1.5 million each and an Rwf8 million signing-on fee.

The players’ current contracts are understood to run until December, but APR remain confident the deals can be concluded once the outstanding paperwork is completed.

Kayijamahe, a dynamic left winger, and Kubwimana, an influential centre-back, played key roles in Police HC’s campaign last season, helping the club reach the Rwanda Men’s Handball Championship playoff final.

Police HC ultimately lost the best-of-five finals series 3-2 to APR after one of the most dramatic comebacks in recent Rwandan handball history.

Should the transfers go through, APR would significantly strengthen their squad as they prepare to defend their domestic title and compete in the upcoming African Club Championship.

For Police HC, however, the departures would represent a major blow, with two of their key players set to join their biggest domestic rivals.

Neither APR HC nor Police HC had officially commented on the reported transfers by the time of publication.
