Substitutes Daniel Muhoza and Junior Herman Kameni made an instant impact as their two goals powered Rayon Sports to a convincing 2-0 victory over KVZ SC in their Group C match of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup at Amahoro Stadium on Sunday.

The duo was playing their first competitive match since joining the Blues in July.

Rayon and KVZ went into halftime level at 0-0, with neither able to find a breakthrough despite creating several chances.

Rayon Sports eventually broke the deadlock in the 67th minute when Kameni calmly converted from the penalty spot after Elie Tatou Iradukunda was brought down inside the box.

The Rwandan side continued to push for a second goal and came close to doubling their advantage in the 76th minute, but Iradukunda’s well-struck free-kick came back off the post.

Three minutes later, Rayon Sports found the insurance goal they were looking for. Muhoza, who had come off the bench, produced a brilliant finish from a tight angle on the left after receiving an excellent pass from Kabange Nshimiyimana to make it 2-0 in the 79th minute.

The victory moved Rayon Sports level on three points with Al Hilal SC in Group C. The Sudanese powerhouse had earlier defeated Tusker FC 2-0 in the other Group C fixture.

Rayon Sports will return to action on Wednesday against Tusker FC, while Al Hilal SC will take on KVZ SC.
