Spain's triumph at the 2026 FIFA World Cup came with more than silverware, as the new world champions earned a record USD 50 million in prize money for lifting football's biggest trophy.

Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time in Sunday's final at New York New Jersey Stadium to claim their second World Cup title and the tournament's biggest financial reward.

Runners-up Argentina received USD 33 million, while the third- and fourth-placed teams earned USD 29 million and USD 27 million, respectively.

Teams eliminated in the quarter-finals collected USD 19 million, while those knocked out in the Round of 16 received USD 15 million. Nations eliminated in the Round of 32 earned USD 11 million, while teams that exited during the group stage received USD 9 million each.

In addition, each of the 48 participating nations was awarded USD 1.5 million to cover preparation costs ahead of the tournament, guaranteeing every qualified federation a minimum payout of USD 10.5 million.

Overall, FIFA distributed approximately USD 871 million in prize money across the expanded 48-team tournament, making the 2026 edition the most financially rewarding World Cup in history.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the tournament represented another significant milestone for global football, with the 2026 World Cup also making a groundbreaking financial contribution to the football community worldwide.

The unprecedented prize fund reflects FIFA's continued investment in the growth of international football following the expansion of the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams.
