SalamAir, an airline from Oman, has launched direct flights between Muscat, Oman's capital, and Kigali.

The airline's inaugural flight landed in Kigali on Tuesday, July 21, following a ceremony at Muscat International Airport, attended by senior representatives from SalamAir, Oman Airports, and Rwandan diplomats.

SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, operates a fleet of 15 aircraft, including Airbus A320neo and A321neo models, serving over 40 destinations in more than 15 countries.

In a statement, officials from SalamAir described Kigali as one of East Africa's fastest-growing destinations, recognised for its vibrant tourism sector, expanding business environment, and strategic position as a gateway to the region.

"The new direct service strengthens connectivity between Oman and Rwanda while creating new opportunities for tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange," read the statement.

Dan Munyuza, Ambassador of Rwanda to the Oman, said the launch of direct flights between Kigali and Muscat "marks an important milestone in strengthening connectivity" between Rwanda and Oman.

"This new route will support the growing movement of travellers, businesses, and goods between our two countries, while creating further opportunities for tourism, trade, and investment," he noted.

Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of SalamAir, said the launch marks "another important milestone in SalamAir's growth journey" as the airline continues expanding its network into high-potential markets that support tourism, business, and stronger international connectivity.

"Rwanda is a dynamic destination with significant opportunities, and we are proud to establish this direct link, which will further strengthen the relationship between our two countries while supporting Oman's tourism ambitions and the objectives of Oman Vision 2040," he noted.
