American point guard Will Perry has joined Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Club ahead of the Rwanda Basketball League playoffs, which are set to begin in August.

The 31-year-old returns to Rwanda after helping Morocco's FUS Rabat win the 2025/26 Moroccan Basketball Championship.

Perry last featured in the Rwanda Basketball League in 2024, when he guided Patriots to the league finals. However, the club fell short in the title decider against rivals APR.

Before his stint with Patriots, Perry enjoyed a successful spell with Mozambican side Ferroviário da Beira. In 2021, he led the club to the national championship and was named the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP).

He also helped Beira qualify for the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL), where he averaged 14 points, four rebounds and five assists per game.

Perry remained with Beira for the 2022 season, steering the club to a second consecutive league title while earning another MVP award.

On January 8, 2023, he signed a one-month contract with Kigali Titans in the Rwanda Basketball League before returning to Beira for the 2023 BAL season.

During that campaign, Perry delivered one of the competition's most memorable performances, scoring 41 points in a 109-97 victory over SLAC on April 30, 2023. The performance tied the BAL single-game scoring record, previously set by Terrell Stoglin.

Later that year, Perry received the 2023 BAL Sportsmanship Award for exemplifying fair play, integrity and ethical conduct on the court.

REG heads into the playoffs after another impressive regular-season campaign, determined to reclaim the league title.

The Energy Group side finished the regular season strongly, highlighted by a convincing 102-86 victory over RSSB Tigers, a result that underlined its credentials as one of the championship contenders heading into the postseason.
