Prince William, Villa's most famous fan

Perhaps Aston Villa's best-known supporter is Prince William, the Prince of Wales and heir to the British throne.

Unlike many high-profile figures associated with football through sponsorships or ceremonial appearances, Prince William has been a lifelong Aston Villa fan. He has regularly attended matches at Villa Park and away from home, celebrated victories alongside fellow supporters and spoken openly about his affection for the club.

In recent years, he has often been accompanied by his eldest son, Prince George, passing on his passion for the Villans to the next generation of the Royal Family.

Explaining why he chose Aston Villa, Prince William once said:

"I wanted a team that was somewhere in the middle... Aston Villa just felt right.

"All my friends at school were either Manchester United or Chelsea fans. I didn't want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams. I wanted a team that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments."

Hollywood and music stars

Aston Villa's appeal extends well beyond football.

Among the club's most famous supporters is Oscar-winning American actor Tom Hanks, who has frequently spoken about his admiration for Villa and interacted with the club on several occasions.

Reflecting on how he became a supporter, Hanks once joked:

"I thought Aston Villa sounded like a lovely vacation spot. Now I know what it's really like, and I'm still with them."

Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic Black Sabbath frontman and a Birmingham native, has also remained a passionate Villa supporter throughout his career.

Other notable celebrity fans include internationally acclaimed violinist Nigel Kennedy and English actor David Bradley, best known for his roles in Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.

Sporting personalities

Aston Villa's fanbase also includes several high-profile figures from the sporting world.

Former world No. 1 golfer Luke Donald has long supported the club, while British heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has attended Villa matches and publicly expressed his support on several occasions.

Former England manager Gareth Southgate is also among the club's well-known supporters, alongside former Villa players such as Gabriel Agbonlahor, Stiliyan Petrov and Dion Dublin, who continue to serve as ambassadors for the club.

A fanbase built on loyalty

Villa supporters are widely regarded as some of the most loyal in English football.

Even during periods outside the Premier League and years without major silverware, the club continued to attract strong crowds at Villa Park, with fans travelling across England and Europe to support the team.

Before every home match, supporters proudly sing "Holte Enders in the Sky," creating one of English football's most distinctive atmospheres.

The Holte End, one of Villa Park's most iconic stands, remains the emotional heart of the club's support.

Aston Villa's return to European football, coupled with ambitious commercial partnerships such as Visit Rwanda, has significantly expanded the club's international profile.

Today, the Villans enjoy millions of supporters across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Africa and Asia, cementing their status as one of football's most historic and globally recognised clubs.

For Rwanda, the partnership provides an opportunity to showcase the country's tourism, culture and investment potential to a worldwide audience through one of England's most storied football institutions and its passionate global fanbase.
