Rwanda men’s team’s hopes of reaching the semifinals of the 2026 World Sitting Volleyball Championship came to an end after Kazakhstan defeated them in Tuesday night’s quarterfinals.
Coach Steven Ngabonziza’s side was outplayed in straight sets, with Kazakhstan claiming the match 25-8, 25-13, 25-20 to book a place in the last four.
Rwanda will now shift focus to the classification matches for 5-8th place as it looks to secure the highest possible finish at the tournament.
Meanwhile, the women’s team put their elimination from knockouts behind to sweep Hungary in straight sets (25-5, 25-10, 25-9) in their first classification match. The win sent them into the classification bracket for ninth to 12th place.
