In Brasilia, Rwanda’s growing diplomatic footprint in Brazil was on full display as the Embassy of Rwanda hosted the Kwibohora32 celebration, bringing together senior Brazilian government officials, diplomats, business leaders, academics and international partners.
Held for the third time since the embassy’s establishment, the event reflected the steady expansion of Rwanda-Brazil relations, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to deeper cooperation in agriculture, education, innovation, trade and investment.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Brazil, Lawrence Manzi, and Brazil’s Director of the Department of Africa at Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty), Ambassador Antonio Augusto Cesar, highlighted the growing strategic partnership and the opportunities created through closer bilateral engagement.
Beyond celebrating Rwanda’s liberation journey, the event showcased the country’s culture and development story to a diverse Brazilian audience through traditional dance performances and authentic Rwandan cuisine.
The celebration also underscored the Embassy’s increasingly active role in strengthening Rwanda’s presence in Latin America, building new partnerships across public and private sectors while promoting the country as a destination for investment, innovation and international cooperation.
"For Rwanda, security and good governance is not simply one priority among many," said Amb. Manzi. "It is the foundation upon which everything else is built. Without peace and security, there can be no development, no prosperity, and no opportunity."
"We honor the young brave men and women of the Rwanda Patriotic Army, who made the ultimate sacrifice to give their lives so that they could liberate Rwanda and give us a chance for a new beginning. In honoring them, we also recognize the responsibility entrusted to every Rwandan to build and protect the nation they liberated."
"We believe that development is strengthened when countries share their experiences and learn from one another. For Rwanda, this is the essence of South-South cooperation: partnerships built on mutual respect, practical solutions, and a commitment to shared progress."
