Danny Usengimana scored twice in the second half as APR hammered Etincelles 3-0 on Saturday to go top of the Rwanda Premier League table.

The home victory for Moroccan Adil Mohammed Erradi’s team at Kigali Stadium propelled them to the summit with 7 points after three matches this season.

Midfielder Olivier ‘Sefu’ Niyonzimana opened the scoring in the first half followed by Usengimana’s sensational brace in the second period – in the 64th and 76th minute, respectively.

The army side, however, lead courtesy of a slim superior goal difference (4) after reigning champions and bitter rivals Rayon Sports fought back from a goal down to edge Espoir 2-1 at Kamparampaka Stadium, in Rusizi District.

Rayon, who have a three-goal difference, went down in the 20th minute after Espoir forward Fred Kyambadde scored from the spot but quickly responded as centre-back Said Iragire equalised for the visitors in the 32nd minute. Skipper Eric Rutanga netted the winner in the 74th minute.

The league action continues Sunday with three matches. Police host Gicumbi at Kigali Stadium, Mukura take on Musanze at Huye Stadium, while SC Kiyovu will be up against Sunrise at Mumena Stadium.
